Free or deeply discounted Continuing Education offerings -In 2023 we offered 8 hours of free CE. Paying for those classes from a regular CE provider would cost over $600. Your $100 annual membership paid for itself 6 times over in 2023. -In addition to the free classes we had an additional 9 hours of deeply discounted education, including the
7 hour National USPAP class. - Listing on utcap.org- a searchable database of members available to the public- Get new business!
- Strength in numbers. UTCAP is the 2nd largest appraiser organization in Utah.

Committees
Membership Committee
Mission:
The Membership Committee, is responsible for increasing the number of members and ensuring the retention of these
members. The Committee recommends policies, procedures, and initiatives to assure a growing and vital membership
organization. The Committee is comprised of 3 or more board members and 1 UTCAP member. The committee chair is
determined by vote of the committee members, but must be a board member.
Duties:
- Contact prospective members by phone or email. Make them aware of resources, services, membership benefits and to invite them to join UTCAP.
- Contact all new members personally by phone or email to welcome them to UTCAP and invite them to the next meeting.
- Contact past members and encourage them to renew.
- Greet and introduce new members and prospective members at UTCAP meetings.
- Staff membership booths at trade shows and meetings/Trainings.
- Develop new member information packets for first-time UTCAP members. This packet of information can include the resource list, the most recent UTCAP connections, Membership List, and anything else that the Membership Committee believes may be helpful.
- Develop an Annual Membership Recruitment and Retention Plan
- Recruit potential candidates by inviting them to serve on committees or be involved in other ways.
- Manage website
Activities & Continuing Education Committee
Mission:
This committee, is responsible for planning Continuing Education classes and other activities to increase the professionalism
and competency of Utah appraisers. The committee is comprised of at least 3 board members and 1 UTCAP member. The
committee chair is determined by vote of the committee members, but must be a board member.
Duties:
- Determine locations for CE classes and other activities
- Secure the CE instructors and set the CE schedule
- Publicize the event to interested parties
- Host small, appraiser networking events
- Make recommendations to the board regarding Symposiums, end of year gala, etc.
- Identify exhibitors and sponsors for classes and other events.
- Be responsible for Facebook page and Linked-In page.
Bylaws, Legislative Affairs & Public Relations Committee:
Mission:
The Bylaws Committee recommends, and reviews proposed changes to the bylaws to ensure that the bylaws reflect the
purpose and goals of UTCAP. Monitor legislation and current events that impact the practice of real property appraising
and inform the membership and community of these issues. This committee will look for opportunities to share with the
public about the appraisal industry and any changes in the profession that might impact the public and/or realtors. The
committee is comprised of 3 board members and 1 regular UTCAP member. The committee chair is determined by vote
of the committee members.
Duties:
- Review current UTCAP Bylaws and make recommendations to the UTCAP board regarding any request that would require a change to any portion of current bylaws.
- At least one member of this committee will be on the UAA board.
- One member of this committee will participate in monthly Utah licensing board meetings
- One member of this committee will be on the NAA governing board.
- The committee shall inform the board of any legislative issues and give guidance to the board as to whether or not UTCAP should make a formal statement or opinion regarding the issue.
- Look for opportunities to teach Real Estate agents about the appraisal process. This could be through realtor CE classes taught at brokerages, or other means.
- Look for opportunities to educate the general public about the importance of an unbiased, professional appraiser.
